 Land-Based Fitness Classes
Please Note: All classes meet twice a week and run for 4 week sessions
Yogalates – Core (abdominal & back) strengthening exercises occur in a pattern that flows with traditional-style yoga exercises … a combination that, when combined with rhythmic breathing exercises, will help improve posture, balance, strength, flexibility and cardio efficiency.
Beginner’s Yoga – Great for all levels, this slow paced Hatha Yoga class mingles gentle stretching and easy Yoga poses with breathing exercises to increase flexibility, balance, strength and cardio-respiratory efficiency. Please be sure to notify your Instructor of any injuries prior to starting in order to ensure proper modifications to exercise as needed. **The Instructor of this class is Trained & Certified in Yogafit™
Advanced Yoga – Everything Beginner’s Yoga offers and much, much more! This is an active, flowing style of Yoga that uses proper body alignment for purposes of a safe workout. By moving at a much faster pace and using advanced poses, you are sure to feel challenged by this class and you may even work-up a sweat! ** The Instructor of this class is Trained & Certified in Yogafit™
Chair Aerobics – No impact to protect joints! This class provides the opportunity to get a good workout with little to no equipment, allowing for exercises that are easy to do at home or elsewhere. Cardiovascular & strength training assist in improving activities of daily living. Great for beginners, older adults and those with special needs, whether pre or post-rehabilitative in nature.
Step Aerobics – High impact, choreographed exercise using a step for a great cardio & lower body workout. Instructor will teach modifications and a variety of levels allowing for progression from novice to seasoned stepper! Some toning and abdominal exercises may be included.
Balance & Strength – Research proves increasing balance and strength decreases our biological age, thereby making us physically younger. The use of resistance equipment and stability balls will improve both, making this class your “fountain of youth”!
Sculpt & Tone – Looking for a way to increase your physical strength & stamina while sculpting your body for a lean, toned look? If so, this is the class for you! A variety of resistance equipment will be used in conjunction with stretching and mat work to provide you with a workout that doesn’t require any rhythm!
Power Surge – High impact exercise with intense cardio and strength components will not only challenge you but will also help you reach your maximum potential. Bring your enthusiasm, energy and an open mind because your instructors may use any or all equipment available to keep class interesting and show you just how “powerful” you are.
Great Balls of Fire – Balance balls, medicine balls, bosu balls and even playground balls are all “great balls” to use for strength, cardio, balance and flexibility. Try something new, you’ll be surprised at just how much fun getting fit can be!
Body Core – Get to the core of your problems with exercises that strengthen your abdominals and back, making you less prone to injuries and better able to function in your everyday activities. Strength and stretching exercises can be modified to make this class appropriate for most levels but with serious back injuries a doctor’s release may be required.
Tai Chi – Tai Chi is designed to balance the internal energy in our bodies. This is achieved through the body’s slow movements, stimulating the flow of energy. Tai Chi promotes the principles of yielding, softness, centeredness, slowness, balance, suppleness and rootedness. Benefits of Tai Chi also include muscle tone and joint flexibility. Regular practice helps develop internal calmness and enhances overall health. **This class will be offered in the Summer of 2006.
Personal Training – At The Water’s Edge you will find a very motivated group of highly trained and nationally certified Personal Trainers! Members can work with a Personal Trainer on a one-on-one basis, in pairs or small groups. Our Personal Trainers focus on each client’s fitness goals and specific needs. You may choose to purchase *Special Personal Training Packages of 3, 6 or 12 Sessions or meet with your Personal Trainer on a periodic basis.
We strongly recommend a minimum of 6 sessions for those who desire a significant improvement in strength, balance, bone and muscle mass and flexibility. Your Personal Trainer will be there with you every step of the way to ensure a positive result and you’ll thank yourself for it!
